MODERN BUSHIDO

Learning to face down a punch in class has brought a calmness to my life that is apparent in all that I now do.

MARTIAL ARTS FOR THE 21st CENTURY

I personally do not believe in the word style. Why? Because, unless there are human beings with three arms and four legs, unless we have another group of human beings that are structurally different from us, there can be no different style of fighting.

THIS AIN’T NO McDOJO

The martial arts have a rich history—and yet they are always evolving. Modern Bushido fuses the structure, philosophy and movements of classical karate with contemporary techniques from Muay Thai, Dutch-style kickboxing, western boxing, grappling and street self-defense. Students of this program will go beyond mixed-martial arts striking to reclaim the roots of the martial arts without sacrificing the effectiveness of modern technique.

This is a not a new style, it’s a new approach to training. Modern Bushido is uniquely suited for personal growth, fitness, self-defense, and competition.

A WARRIOR LIFESTYLE

Designed to cultivate a focused, warrior mindset that guides students through everyday life, Modern Bushido will help you discover and realize your true potential. Through disciplined, expertly guided training, you will become an adept, well-rounded martial artist with effective, practical technique, combat strategy, proper body mechanics, and vital self-defense skills.

Kickboxing is a demanding practice. Students who struggle to meditate often find that through pad work and sparring they are able to let go of their daily troubles and focus.

FROM STUDENT TO TEACHER

By engaging with fellow students through drills, sparring, and group meditation, you will learn to draw from and build up the strength of others. In addition to earning a black belt in karate, students of Modern Bushido will also have the opportunity to learn to teach martial arts and eventually become a certified instructor. Qualified students can assist in our Kickboxing Ryoku and Self-Defense for Women classes.
