KICKBOXING RYOKU

I love the combination of learning martial arts techniques, fun workouts, and dojo community. It’s an incredible outlet for relieving stress – work or life-related.

KICKBOXING TAUGHT AS KARATE

Ryoku means “power” in Japanese; not “strength”, per se, but the ability to make something happen. We empower our students, help them connect with their core strength and center, so they can take their training outside of the dojo.

LIKE YOGA, BUT WITH HITTING

Kickboxing Ryoku teaches fight-ready striking arts using old-school karate principles. Learn techniques from MMA, Muay Thai, boxing, and Dutch-style kickboxing in a mindful training culture.

You will practice with attentive, expert instructors, to understand the art and science of fighting. Cultivate a warrior’s mindset, even if you’d never dream of competing. Through focus on meditation, breathing, and stance you will develop and integrate an awareness of the self as a whole.

GRAVITY, THE ULTIMATE FOE

Our bodies adapt to stress, and react every second to the pull of gravity. When we’re limited by a sedentary lifestyle, injuries, or emotional turmoil, our bodies develop alternate movement patterns to compensate. These adjustments are less efficient, more limited, and often create ongoing health problems.

We use a series of targeted movements, routines, and bodyweight exercises to teach you to move from your center with intention, using coordination, balance, and power.

Fighting Chance Seattle is not a gym, and we don’t teach “cardio kickboxing.” You will sweat here. You will get stronger. You will connect to and learn from your body. But you won’t perform meaningless aerobics.

FROM NEWB TO NINJA

We love beginners. Our progressive teaching system is the most efficient way to begin your journey in the martial arts. We want each student to have a safe, unintimidating experience. Students work through the three-tiered Kickboxing Ryoku curriculum at their own pace and level-up only after demonstrating improved skill, commitment, and a firm grasp of the material.

Foundation teaches strikes, stances, and breathing to create a solid base for continued improvement. Integration adds intermediate techniques, compound movements, and defensive tools to create focused combinations. In Application, advanced students learn strategy and drill tactics used to win kickboxing and MMA competitions.

Dedicated students interested in sparring may request to join our Modern Bushido program.
